Beautiful Saunders Beach

Saunders Beach is a beautiful sandy seaside village north of Townsville, Queensland, Australia. The population at the 2011 census was 409 people in 102 families. In the 2016 census Saunders Beach’s population was 409 people in 97 families. http://www.censusdata.abs.gov.au/census_services/getproduct/census/2016/quickstat/SSC32545?opendocument

The Saunders Beach History Project was established in 2007 by me, Judith. At the time I thought I lived in the oldest house at the Beach. I quickly found out my mistake and became  absorbed in researching the history of Saunders Beach.

In the past few years I came to realize my research has given me a good appreciation of the history of my adopted home and this blog will be one way to share it with like-minded people.

Writing about local history is a joy for me and please feel free to leave comments on the blog posts. It’s a great way to interact and I’d love to hear from you.
